How It Works

Building Control Made Simple.

We aim to make the building control process clear and straightforward from the outset. From your initial enquiry through to completion, our team will provide professional building control support, clear communication and a consistent point of contact throughout your project.

01

Request a Quote

Tell us a little about your project using our Request a Quote form. Provide the project address, a brief description of the proposed work and, where available, upload any drawings or supporting information. We’ll review the details and provide a quotation based on the scope of the project.

02

Submit Your Application

Once you’re happy to proceed, we’ll provide the information required to formally appoint Dainty Proudlove Building Control for your project. You’ll be asked to complete our application documentation and provide the relevant project and duty holder information. Once appointed, we’ll take care of the necessary building control administration, including submission of the Initial Notice to the relevant Local Authority.

03

Design Review

Where plans, specifications and supporting calculations are provided, these will be reviewed against the applicable requirements of the Building Regulations. We’ll communicate any queries or additional information required and work with you and your design team to help identify compliance matters before and during construction. Our role is to assess compliance with the Building Regulations; responsibility for the design and construction of the work remains with the relevant duty holders.

04

Construction & Site Inspections

As work progresses, inspections will be carried out at appropriate stages of construction. The inspections required will depend on the nature and complexity of your project, but may include stages such as foundations, ground floors, drainage, structural work, insulation, roofing and completion. Your allocated Registered Building Inspector will remain your point of contact throughout the project.  We ask that you contact us as early as possible when an inspection is required and, wherever possible, provide at least 48 hours' notice.

05

Keeping Your Project on Track

If an issue is identified during an inspection or review, we’ll explain what requires attention and communicate this clearly with the relevant members of the project team. Our approach is professional and collaborative, helping duty holders understand building regulation requirements while maintaining the independence required of a Registered Building Control Approver.

06

Project Completion

When the building work is nearing completion, contact us to arrange the final inspection. Before the building control process can be completed, the necessary inspections must have been satisfactorily completed and any outstanding documentation or information must be provided. Subject to the relevant statutory requirements being satisfied, the appropriate completion documentation can then be issued. It is important that we are contacted before the project is finished and before relevant elements of the work are covered over.
